Work in Progress, Tin, canvas, paint

This work is a portrait of my chronic illness, endometriosis. This illness affects more than 1 in 10 people born with a uterus, and yet doctors and medical professionals are still lacking expertise and knowledge about this strange & complex disease. Endometriosis is among the 20 most painful medical conditions, along with cancer, appendicitis and childbirth, and yet the pain is on average ignored or misdiagnosed (by medical professionals) for seven years.

Definition of Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. Over time, the endometrial-like tissue that grows outside of your uterus can cause severe pain, “endo belly”, nausea, fatigue, cysts, adhesions and scar tissue, and more. It can cause long-term (chronic) pain especially during a menstrual period. Many people with endometriosis may also experience infertility.
